Detection loops are built into the track surface at the start and finish line and at intermediate timing points along the track. A detection loop acts as the system's antenna, picking up signals from the transponders and transmitting them to the decoder. Detection loops for X2 are similar to TranX detection loops, so when you upgrade to X2 you don't need to install new loops.
