François Place is a former alpine skier who has successfully made the switch to ski cross, establishing himself as one of France's leading ski cross athletes.
His career path is unique: after a solid career in alpine skiing, he switched to ski cross in 2016 and made immediate progress. In 2017, he won a bronze medal at the World Championships, the first confirmation of his potential.
He reached a milestone in 2019 when he became world ski cross champion, dominating the final and setting a global benchmark.
He followed this up with a silver medal at the 2021 World Championships, achieving a rare feat: three consecutive World Championship medals (2017, 2019, 2021).
On the Olympic stage, he reached two finals with a 10ᵉ place in 2018 and an 8ᵉ place at the 2022 Beijing Games, confirming his consistency at the highest level.
